The Autumn term is now in full swing and we already have much to celebrate in school.
Congratulations to our big achievers!
Our achievement assembly saw over 70 per cent of pupils achieving 10 or more merits!
Congratulations to ‘Masterminds’ Nathan Fletcher, Sophie Fletcher and Abigail Taylor, who have achieved 20 merits since returning to school after the summer.
Mrs Griffin has also awarded Cody Moore the title of ‘Artist of the Week’ for starting the GCSE course with a very positive attitude and putting in extra effort to her drawings.
So far this term, Shannon House have received 582 merits and Lichfield house have 523 merits.
With things so delicately poised, every merit is going to count from here on!
Mr Chubb has recently awarded Erin Rose Johnson ‘Sports Person of the Week’ for showing a fantastic attitude to PE, demonstrating excellent control and balance in Gymnastics and for attending extra-curricular clubs.
Well done Erin!
We are also extremely proud of the team who represented Maple Hayes at the Independent Schools Association Under 14’s football tournament at Dixie Grammar school in Market Bosworth on the 19th September.
Due to us being one of the smaller schools in the tournament we had a mixture of Year 9, Year 8 and Year 7 pupils.
The squad consisted of: Liam Robins, Lewis Binks, Tom Walton, Jacob Blakemore, Archie Smith, Amaan Jhetam, William Murdock, Ashley Harlow, Paul Robertson, Edward Gray, Alex Long, Monty Gambrell.
Maple Hayes came out victorious over Bowbrook House (Warwickshire) thanks in part to Lewis Binks who scored a brilliant goal; running past four Bowbrook players before striking the ball into the top corner for the only goal of a 1-0 victory.
Our man of the tournament was Liam Robins who pulled off some brilliant saves as Goalkeeper throughout the tournament.
Our squad demonstrated the usual qualities of a Maple Hayes pupil such as sportsmanship, effort, politeness, determination and enjoyment to be playing.
Trips and meetings
Our Key Stage 2 pupils are visiting Tanglewood Visitor Centre at Marquis Drive, Cannock Chase this week. As part of their History studies, the pupils will be stepping back in time to the Stone Age to discover how life used to be.
Mr Bransfield will be holding a GCSE meeting on Saturday at 9am for all Year 11 parents. This is an opportunity to discuss the final year of school and arrangements for mock exams at the end of this term, as well as a chance to look at future opportunities for Year 11 pupils.
